Walk-in COVID-19 booster vaccines are available across the Black Country and West Birmingham from today.
Hundreds of people across the local area have already been invited by text, email and letter encouraging them to book an appointment through the national booking service.
Now, eligible adults, who had the second vaccine dose at least six months ago (182 days), can walk-in at Saddlers Vaccination Centre in Walsall and Tipton Sports Academy in Sandwell, with no appointment necessary.
Those eligible for boosters include those aged 50 and over, people living and working in care homes for the elderly, and frontline health and social care workers.
All those who are clinically extremely vulnerable, and anyone aged 16 to 49 who was included in a priority group during the initial vaccine rollout, will also be able to receive their booster jab.
Sally Roberts, Chief Nursing Officer for BCWB CCG, said: “It’s fantastic that we can now offer walk-in vaccinations for the COVID-19 booster vaccine. This means that those eligible, who had their second dose at least six months ago, can get their vital booster jab at a time that is convenient for them.
“I would strongly urge those who are eligible for their booster dose to come forward as soon as possible. This will give them, and their loved ones, the best possible protection against this deadly virus, help to slow the spread and help ease pressure on the NHS as we approach winter.”
Appointments and walk-ins are still available for first and second doses of COVID-19 for anyone unvaccinated.
